often when it rains or we generally get bad weather we tend to lose the sky signal or the picture gets disrupted does this happen to you and how have you resolved the problem?

although digital is a better quality signal it is much narrower than analogue, which makes it more susceptible to disruption from weather fronts, so it is very important that it aligned up correctly

There are two: bad weather can physically damage a satellite dish, temporarily or over the longer term, and some type of bad weather can disrupt the satellite signal. A large snowfall is the most likely cause of disruption to satellite TV or broadband services, although heavy rain and winds can also have a detrimental effect.

Solution:

Sky upgraded its system so that Sky+HD boxes allow access for up to 12 hours without a signal. Older boxes can access recordings for up to an hour.
Unfortunately, I still have one of their older boxes and as with a typical British winter, it’s pretty likely that it’ll rain or gale for longer than an hour. However, it’s still a big improvement and a move in the right direction.

I used to - there were branches in the path of the signal and when it rained, the leaves got wet and blocked the signal - took me ages to figure it out, but now, problem solved, I just trimmed back the branches a bit.

Go and look at the direction your dish points towards, look for any possible obstruction in rain or wind, and it's usually something simple to fix.

I used to have the same problem in rain,wind and even fog! I got a guy out to movr tne dish where it didn't get as much weather and it's been loads better,only going off once in the last 6months

your dish is slightly off or the LNb is faulty ( bit on end of arm) this shouldnt be happening and can definately be fixed. Could of course be the digibox also so you need an engineer, £65 call out including the repair, email me and i can arrange this if you want

well this problem happens to everyone during rain or bad weater e.g. too much wind. It normally depends on where the sky engineer has placed you satellite. But there is nothing to worry about, everyone faces that problem, even me.

Satellite signals are transmitted on microwaves. Microwaves are absorbed by water...i.e. less signal gets through the moisture. If you want more signal, you have two choices... get rid of the moisture or get a bigger dish... simple.

You need to get an ariel specialist to check that the dish is correctly aligned and the correct size. Also they should check your LNB as well as connections to make sure water is not penetrating.

the only way to reduce signal loss is by using a larger satelite dish

It happens to most people and the best you can do is wait for it to "repair" (for want of a better word) itself or at worst, do a reset of your box.
