I hear it's normal, especially in newborns. Their breathing patterns tend to change, especially when they're sleeping. I read that it can last for up to several seconds at a time, but they start breathing again. My son never went through this, but if he had, I would've let his pediatrician know. You should let her doctor know anyway just in case it could be something else, but chances are, she's fine.

This is called sleep apnea and she needs to see a Dr straight away.
Some sleep apnea's are harmless but it can be very dangerous as the brain doesnt get enough oxygen. My friends son has it and has to see a speacialist and used to have oxygen when he slept and a monitor to measure his blood pressure, breathing and heart rate.
Also during his naps she has to wake him when he stops breathing to make him breathe again. His is a very severe case as it happens like every minute or so, so is quite dangerous. But he is 5 now and although he still has it it is not quite as bad now and so does not need the oxygen and monitor.
I dont want to scare you just illustrate how serious this can be. And the importance of taking her to the Dr.
So please see a Dr, and I hope she is alright and only has a mild form of it or is something not to be worried about.
Best Luck and Wishes.

Everyone "stops breathing" in their sleep occasionally. Most of the time it's for such a short period of time, that it's not noticed. However, some people have sleep apnea, where you stop breathing for long periods of time (upwards of a minute), or you stop breathing often. This causes you to wake up, or get a really poor quality of sleep. It can lead to health issues.
The best thing you can do is to talk to your pediatrician about it. If it's severe, they may do a sleep test on her, or put her on a monitor.

This is a condition called sleep apnea. You momentarily stop breathing at night. There are therapies and even surgeries if the condition is bad enough.
Take your daughter to the doctor about this ASAP. My neice had this around four years old and they found out hers was caused by an allergy to milk. (don't ask me why it caused sleep apnea)

Periodic breathing is defined as cessation of breathing about 10 to 15 seconds without decreased in HR and cyanosis. All you need to do is put him lying on his back and try to stimulate her to by tactile stimulation or flickering the sole of her feet.Apnea is cessation of breathing more than 15 seconds accompanied by decrease in HR,cyanosis and oxygen saturation which is very alarming and needs immediate action.

How previous is she? while my daughter replaced into an toddler she did this some situations. i could p.c.. her up immediately and he or she could take a breath. you could desire to take her to the wellbeing care provider and have her airlines checked. I actually have a chum who went by way of this with their newborn and while this replaced into happening they took her to the record and he or she had an endemic. they did no longer understand the thank you to quit it yet they did provide her a respiratory video exhibit that should alert them while this replaced into happening. no longer that it will yet, it could reason coronary heart issues and/or difficulty's with strategies function.
