Eat healthy, plenty of exercise or join a slimming class such as weightwatchers (www.weightwatchers.co.uk). On weightwatchers you can eat everything in moderation and the support you get is fantastic - I have lost 24 pounds and feel great :).

What ever you decide you must really want to loose weight or nothing will work and you'll end up feeling bad.

Good luck

Diets are okay and everything, but they can decrease your metabolism, causing your body to conserve fat. What you really need is some long, slow aerobic exercise. Go for at least 12-15 minutes or more per day of walking, jogging, running, cycling, or some other kind of exercise such as these, and don't stop doing this once you get rid of the weight you want to get rid of. Another thing to keep in mind is that weight really isn’t the problem; fat is the problem. Weight and fat are NOT the same thing. Muscle actually weighs almost 7 times as much as fat. So don’t pay too much attention to your weight; instead pay attention to how thin you look and how good you feel.

I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how much 2 stone is, but it apparently is a lot if it's making you feel sad/bad. In any event, quick weight gain for no reason could be a sign of hypothyroidism. Really, the same thing happened to me. I gained 20 lbs in about 6 months for no reason...I was dieting and excercising, and the pounds kept coming. You may want to Google hypothyroidism and check out the symptoms. If you have one or more (and you do since weight gain is a symptom), go see a doctor.

Well, this works well enough for me.

- Eat foods higher in fibre. (swap regular bread with wholegrain breads, etc.) This'll make you feel fuller faster and keep you feeling full longer. Hence, you'll end up eating less.
- Eat until you are content, not stuffed.
- Try to keep your daily calorie intake under 1800. Just roughly add up the nutritional information on the back of the packets of food you eat.
- Drink more water.
- Try not to eat before you sleep. You'll wake up in the morning and know why.

Combine all of this with:
- Sleep more. Sleeping releases a hormone which minimises appetite. Lack of sleep will produce a hormone which increases your appetite.
- When you feel like eating, think, 'Am I really hungry or am I just bored/upset?'
- Exercise. If you want to lose this weight, you'll do it. Basically, do something that'll get your heartrate going. 20 minutes a day. Getting into the habit of this is good.

Just to add, don't make the mistake of starving yourself, you'll just be really hungry later and binge, also, the people around you will get really annoyed at you. Small, regular meals around 5 times a day will help. Try to stay away from foods high in sugar. Don't over-endulge in meat, it's basically held together by fat.

If you put it on, you'll be able to take it off.

Proper diet, see someone who has proper knowledge (not just a friend who reads and believes everything the media says) also doing regular circuit training type activities about 3 times a week building up to more later.

Cut out foods that are heavily processed or refined. Drink loads of water ( about 3lt a day) Try to keep away from anything sweet. Eat more fruit and veg. Reduce your daily calories to about 1500 but take vitamin and mineral supplements...

Eat only hungry and that too not more than three times a day. Eat nourishing and not junk food. Chew each morsel of food at least 32 times. U will notice how beautifully ur brain controls and lets u know that enough is enough. Drink only water in between.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly.

The practice of food intake and light exercise regime will enable u to achieve ur ideal weight in a reasonable time effortlessly.

i gained 3 stone in 6 months, i was really down wich triggerd depression, saw my GP who talked about healthy eating...not diets. diets make u obsess about food. i still eat take aways, bacon sarnies and all the rest only in smaller amounts, i swap all full fat stuff for low fat options, like butter, mayo, granary bread insted of white....ignore the 'eat 3 times a day' crap, eat around 4-6 times aday...not big meals but after brekky if ur pekkish have sum bite size shredded wheat with no milk or a hand ful of nuts. have fresh fuit and dried fruit and nuts to hand. if u think u may be hungry have 1 pint of still water and wait 20 mins if u still feel hungry then eat a meal, ppl often confuse hunger with thirst. if u feel like snacking but really dont want to eat then occupy ur hands and mind....draw...come online etc. most important....dont worry, stress can increase weight gain. but saying all this, id advise u to c ur doctor for help they will also keep ur spirits up.

Unfortunately there are no short cuts to loosing weight, unless you are willing to put your body through the trauma of liposuction. The best thing you can do is eat healthy and excercise. I would suggest running/ walking. There are some good sites online, runnersworld.com has some good tips for beginning runners.
