My cat is two and she loves to chew on everything! Furniture, wires, my monitor- anything! Putting ointments or solvents on things isn't an option. She will stop with a "no" and a pat on the behind, but will just go where I can't see her and chew on something else. Any suggestions?

Well Boundry spray would be considered a solvent so you do not want that. Try pure lemon oil. It can be bought at a health food store. Put drops of that on the things she is chewing. Cats really dislike lemon smells so that should help. My cat chews but not that bad. I mean she chews a lot of paper, plastics but never anything like a wire. I would suggest getting outlet protectors. You can buy them at Lowes. It is a hard plastic shield that goes over wires to hide them from sight and chewing. There is no way she could chew through this. You do not want her to get electrocuted. Good luck.

Excessive chewing may be a sign of a medical problem – problems with the teeth or gums or something lacking in the cat's diet. You might was to check with your vet.

If there is no evidence of dental disease or dietary deficiency and the chewing has been going on for some time, it may be a behavior problem not a medical one. There are many toys and treats designed just for cats that are chewers. (I had one cat that used to steal the dog’s rawhide chew sticks to gnaw on.)

I would also try to protect especially dangerous items, such as wires, so that the cat does not have ready access to them. There are also covers for wires which will prevent animals from chewing.
