dvd player now working?

Hi

my dvd player does now find the disc all i get is a message (insert disc) i have done this and also trouble shooted it but i still cannot get it to read the disc this also applys to me my cd writer.

Ps i have tried the disc in both ports and it still does not work

jersey boy: would you get this message from both drives if they are no good? i get the light on which shows that the power gets to them but neither work.could i have done something on the system settings to have stopped them working properly?

1 other thing when i troubleshoot i get the message this device is working properly!!

a dvd will not work in a cd writer, have you tried another dvd in the dvd player or another cd in the cd writer?
i would say it was probably the dvd disc itself that was broken,

I sort of faced this in my laptop. I really do not know if this is your problem but I am sure its worth trying. Go to My Computer. Right click on CD Drive, click on recording tab. Click enable cd recording on this drive. This shoulld help you write to blank discs. But I have no idea about the DVD Drive because mine's a combo so...

Good Morning 2 ya.

I do a little computer programing, and when i get that MSG please insert a cd into drive. I usually know that the optical drive is no working. Time 2 get a new 1. But lets wait till ya get some more answers 2 c if anyone else aggree's with me.

What colour is the disc - some DVD's don't receognise Purple discs - my PC DVD won't accept purple discs at all - silver or gold and no problem - My home DVD player also will not recognise purple discs

are you just trying one particular disc? if so then try another!
