I1ve converted an avi movie to DVD. The disc plays on my comp. but not on my dvd player. If I convert it to MPEG and burn it with Nero would this make a difference,as I`ve heard that MPEG will play in virtually all dvd players. Thanx

to convert avi to dvd to play in your dvd player you need this program, i convert thousands of avi's to dvd.

http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/

its freeware and really easy to use with 100% success rate.
it can convert 25 -29 fps and vice versa but if your avi file 23fps (which it may be as this gives higer compression ratio) then youll need to use this program instead to preform a frame pulldown or else the picture will stutter when you watch it on dvd player. it is a lot slower at converting, but it is freeware and can do a far better job than nero and canopus

http://www.trustfm.net/divx/SoftwareAvi2Dvd.html

when you load your avi file into convertx it will tell you the frame rate of your avi file, really the easist thing to do is only download or convert avi file that are 25fps or 29fps, but with avi2dvd you can get a 23fps avi film into dvd format and if you search the interent on this a lot of video editors are still struggling software that can do this, so its our little secret ;)

enjoy.

Leave the file in avi format and then open up 'Nero burning rom'. Tell the program that you want to burn a vcd and then Nero will automatically convert the file into the appropriatie format and burn the disk for you.
Although MPEG will play in almost all dvd players (except the ps2) you need to burn the diskk so that the dvd player will recognise it as a vcd (video cd).
Hope this helps

stop converting them.. go buy you a dvd player that has a divx emblem on it. $40 at wal-mart... then you can put about 6 of those avi files on a dvd and watch them on your tv
