I have 2 Adult Old English Sheepdogs and they eat Bakers most of the time, they also eat Pal complete for a change. Don't worry, the dried foods have all the vitamins and nutrients that your dog needs. I also give mine 2 Bonio biscuits for their breakfast.

Bakers Complete is a complete food. It does not need tinned food to go with it. You can either feed your dog tinned food + mixer, or a complete food. Personally I always go for the complete foods.

Whilst it is a complete food, it's also overpriced crap. Look on the ingredients list and see how much of that is artificial colourings etc. to make it look appealing to the HUMANS that buy it (the dog couldn't care less what his food looks like).

We used to feed it to our dog (my wife saw it on special offer in the supermarket and we stuck with it for a while). Have to say that since we changed from Bakers, his coat has got glossier and he's much more bright and alert. Oh, and the food we give him now is much cheaper. (Would tell you the brand, but don't want to be deleted for advertising).

If you are going to change their food, do so gradually. The first time, add a SMALL AMOUNT of the new food. Then gradually increase the amount of the new food (and decrease the old) over a period of 1-2 weeks until you are feeding just the new food.

One final note.....STOP WORRYING!! Your dogs will be fine.

Both my Yorkies just love Bakers Complete. Though not their sole diet, they have a small dish each in the afternoon. I wouldn't worry too much if Bakers is the only food your dogs will eat; it certainly isn't a bad food and, so long as they drink plenty of water, they should be fine. Mine don't get canned food at all but they are given freshly cooked chicken which the vet has always advised.

As long as your dogs are content and healthy, you are doing the right thing.

My best advice is hard dog food is fine as long as it is a good high protien, low filler food. When buying hard dog food, the best thing to go by is to look at the top 3 ingredients. Ideally, they should be meat. The meat should be named ie beef, chicken, turkey, etc. If it says "chicken meal","beef meal",etc. that is BAD. All "meal"means is the leftover crap that nobody else wants like hooves, beaks, etc. Also, corn/corn meal/corn gluten should not be listed, let alone in the top 3 ingredients. All corn products like that are just non nutritional, cheap fillers..A lot of good brands use rice instead and that is good.Brown rice is the best.I used to be ignorant about dog food, and thought "oh it is not the dollar store/cheapo brand, if it is purina, any 'name' brand, etc it must be good" and we were feeding our dogs Purina Pedigree. It is crap. No meat except meat meal and corn in the top 3 ingred.Dog foods like this (high protein, low filler) cost more, but are worth it.The dog does not have to eat near as much, they will build more lean muscle mass, not poop as much.I have never heard of Baker's brand, but just look at the first three ingredients to see if it is good. As far as canned food goes,we feed it to our dogs occasionally for a treat. It is all pretty well the same, but try to find one that has broth as the first ingredient and not water.GOOD LUCK ps just because i have never heard of your brand of food DOES NOT mean it is not a great food, i am very new to comparing dog food brands and also, you could live in a different country (america here)

Bakers complete is a dry diet, there is no need to add meat. It's better for dogs to be on a dry diet,it keeps there breath and teeth healthier so there is no need to worry about adding meat.

Technicaly yes as it provides full nutrition however dogs like variety so mix a small bit of tinned in now and then as a treat.

It says 'complete' so that means its all they need. Its not the worst dog food on the market, so you can stop worrying.
If it was tinned you'd see on the instructions that you have to add mixer, that means its not a complete food.

Try to give your animal premium foods such as Eagle Pack, Innova, or Timber Wolf. These are packed with nutrients that other foods don't have. These foods are very expensive but worth it. It's alright to feed your dog some canned food sometimes, not everyday.

It is supposed to be a complete so you shouldn't need to mix it with anything. However, I personally would try to find a brand that doesn't have so many artifical additives in it as it would be far better for your dogs health.
