Um, what? Or better yet, QUE????? All the Mexicans I've know have always claimed they were Mexicans, and all the Spaniards have always said they were Spaniards, and the Puerto Ricans have always said they were Puerto Ricans, and the....get the picture? Maybe the Mexicans claimed they speak Spanish because they do.
I'm sorry, but not every Spaniard looks gringo. I've been to Spain, too and have met a lot of Spaniards and there are a lot of dark-skinned Spaniards.
Yes, there are a lot of indios in Mexico, but there also a lot of white Mexicans (just take a look at Jalisco or Nuevo Leon).
I've met a lot of Africans that speak French because they were colonized by the French, but none of them ever claimed to be French! (I'm sure the same goes with someone from Haiti).
Geez.....I won't even continue....

I'm sorry to tell you that Mexicans have never claim that they are Spanish. Mexicans have always claim and said that they are Mexicans. The people that have claim that Mexicans are Spanish are in the USA, because of ignorant and not knowing the different about Latin America. In the USA, people think that every Latino is the Same with the same culture, back ground, same ethnic, same food, etc. This is the reason they invented the word Hispanic, to bunch everybody from Latin America into one bunch. Even when Spaniards come from Spain just because they talk Spanish, automatically he is Hispanic. So you see is not our fault, well in a way it is, because we never have said nothing about the word of Hispanic and we have accepted it. To some people in the USA is you are white you cannot be Latino or Hispanic and they will ask you,,, How could you speak Spanish and I have to take time to answer to this stupid person, question, why. Check the word Hispanic in the Merriam-Webster dictionary and you will see and learn.. Good luck !

Yeah dude, um I have to disagree with you. Most if not all Mexicans I have come across are proud Mexicans, too proud sometimes. I have noticed Mexican Americans who have been here for generations claim to be part if not full Spanish. My mother's side is pure Spanish blood from NM USA. Also, if you visit Mexico you will notice that they have many white Mexicans with mostly Spanish European blood. Visit Mexico, I went to the Yucatan peninsula where I thought some people were white Americans, turned out they were Mexican. Interesting.

So all Mexicans pretend to be Spanish? Heh, no racism there at all buddy. I've met a lot of Mexicans in my life; there are a few who think it's cool and of higher status to be European - but I've met just as many Anglo Americans who think the same thing, trying to look Brit-pop or pretend they're "Celtic." The fact of the matter is, Mexico is the product of two great civilizations: the Aztec empire and Spain. It's got amazing art and cuisine - in fact, the food is far more original and varied than "American" food. So before you talk about how Mexicans don't want to claim Mexico or their great heritage, you should meet some.

Not being Mexican,I can only make a guess.Pure blood,Spanish,is still viewed as being of aristocratic parentage.Indians are for most part looked down on.Since Mexicans in general are of mixed races mostly Spanish and any number of Indian strains, saying you're Spanish elevates you somehow.By the way,Mexicans also claim they are speaking Spanish when they speak, not Mexican. To them it's an insult of sorts to call them on it.I,for instance don't speak English, but a sort of.It's called American.

Look at my nick and i guess if I am proud or not of being MEXICAN, we are the raza, and I'm proud of it, learn something about AZTECS, and dude, we would never say that we're from other latin country, NEVER EVER, just think a little a bit in this:
Mexico is the country with more inmigration from Argentina in all over the world.
Over 1000 latins cross the Mexican border EVERY DAY to try to find a job here.
Mexico has 42 of the 100 most important companies in Latin America, Brazil has 42 too, so guess how are the other latin countries.
Mexico has 110 million of mexicans...only 10 Mexicans (born in Mexico) are in the USA.
Mexico has the Latinamerica's higest per capita income.
Mexico is the 7th most visited country in the world.
VIVA MEXICO!!!!

This is a ridiculous situation,here..
How many Natives have been killed....from the North..to the South of the American continent....
The woman..I should say..that..a little human..being..is confirming what Hitler did to the humanity....
Everybody has to pay the price.....sooner..or later....
Mexican people are more natives, than all the Bastards brought fron Europe as criminals and assassins to fill up the North American territory....
Please take some time and study some history....and you'll learn more..

I have NEVER EVER heard any Mexican claim that he/she is Spanish. You should read History books and base your information on them rather than on what the tour guide said.
