The type of prayer you are talking about (gimme, gimme, gimme) is really foreign to the Bible, and the Bible doesn't talk about God saying "no", that is a human insertion. Prayer is a spiritual activity and is heard spiritually and answered spiritually. Romans 8 tells us that "We do not know how to pray as we ought but the Spirit of God interceeds for us and prays for us as we ought to pray. Those prayers are always answered.
BTW Deke - the long and happy life in Christianity is not on this earth, it is in the place that God has prepared for us. So those prayers are answered. You place too much stock on this life and not enough on the one to come.

God is both All-Powerful and All-Knowing. The only thing you should be questioning if your prayer is not accepted, is your own sincerity, and your own level of servitude to Him.
The life of this world is short and what you should be truly concerned about is the Hereafter.
"But of mankind there are some who say: "Our Lord! Give us (Your Bounties) in this world!" and for such there will be no portion in the Hereafter.
And of them there are some who say: "Our Lord! Give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the torment of the Fire!"
For them there will be alloted a share for what they have earned. And Allah is Swift at reckoning." [Qur'an 2:199-202

I neither pray nor do I believe god is all powerful. I doubt that he exists so it is unlikely that he would say no

If your little baby will ask you that he wants to play with a knife or a sharp blade, would you allow him?
Some times our desires are such that The God knows better if these are good for us or not. if not, almighty He replaces it with some other thing good for us, But our prays or never disregarded by almighty Him.

I've never understood this.
They say that God answers all prayers, even if the answer is sometimes 'no'. They also say that God is loving and merciful.
Grieving mother : "God, will you please heal my infant daughter of her terminal illness, so that she may have a chance to live a full and happy life, and serve you along the way?"
God : "NO!"
Makes zero sense.

YOU have answered your own question!! But from what I can tell, 'god' does not exist as 'prayers' do not seem to be answered for the oppressed, the hungry. the homeless, the abused, the raped, the starving, the slaughtered, the murdered and the forgotten!!
