Lately, i just can't make up my mind! My hair is about 4 inches past my shoulders. I want it long, like waist length, but i also want it short, like just above my shoulders. I think it would look cute, and i would be able to cut my layers off. I hate layers(my layers).. But if i had it long it would be.. long! But then again, it would be harder to care for and i really don't have the time to do that.. But everyone says i should grow my hair long because my hair is short already.. but it's not that short! It's like mid-length.

Here are some details that may or may not help you.
I am 12.
150cm or 4"9(very short)
Very thin
Very Pale
Dark brown hair
Heart-shaped face
Side-swept bangs
And i seem to look quite youthful...
Well i must, seeing that i get half-price at the hairdressers because they think i'm in yeart four(i'm in year 7)!

Sooo... Which would be better? Long or short? I don't usually take advide from random strangers, but i'm quite confused!
Thanks in advance!

Sorry about the "t" that i wrongly and accidentally placed in there. I also apologise for the "d" in advice! I was just really anxious about this question! You know, homework to do, assignments to do.. Hair to think about!

Also, a more specific benefit, for having long hair, would be that it's really cute and my family would definitely favour it over short hair. But who cares what they think?! I am an individual! Sure, we humans may be pack animals, like wolves, but we are all individuals, like pandas! But the sad thing is.. that pandas are becoming extinct, just like our individuality.. Why must the world be so depressing?! Er, sorry.. Must get back to that homework now..

I have extremely thick hair, so if i cut it short i think it will go puffy. Brushing my hair makes it go static.. If i have short hair, it will be easier to care for, but if i have long hair, it will be a change, as i have not had long hair since i was four(i had it to my elbows. It was beautiful and i loved it, but before i started school, my mother cut it into a hideous mullet!). I kind of always cut my hair short. Like, always. So I guess long would be a new experience for me.. But then again, my hair does get very knotty... I think it grows really fast, because my last haircut was on december 27 when i had it trimmed and it was around my shoulders. Now it is March 04 and my hair has grown around four inches. At this rate, it will probably only take me 6 months to grow it to my waist. But still... Should i cut it or grow it? I don't want to do something i will regret.

I have to go by what type of hair of have to determine the length.
Wish I could cut it short!!!!
So I say, depends on what type of hair you have...if it is easy to care for in the first place then take a chance and cut it short.
My hair is very think and curly...I tried cutting it all off short both above like halle barry and at shoulder length but it just kept looking like a fro because it's naturally curly...I could straighten it but that took alot more of my time. So now I have no choice but to leave the length long(right now it goes past my waist even when curly, so can you image how much longer it is if it were straight)so that all the weight makes it stay down instead of fluff back up into a fro if I cut it short again...there is nothing wrong with having a fro hairstyle, I know some women enjoy it, but it's not for me, I kept feeling like when everyone was staring at me hair because it was so big and high, the same feeling you have when you get a zit and you feel like everyone is staring at it!

I love long hair, but maybe it's the time to try for short (and I think long hair looks better on taller girls, whereas short hair gives you ore personality). Your picture and your description make me think that a short (ear-length) haircut could suit you. In any case, there is always time to let it grow again.

G'day Jelle,

Don't think hair is the issue since you mention what other people think so much.

For your age and height I would suggest going to the local Police Station and asking about Rape Statistics. Do you want to become one?

I would also suggest you understand that your hair will grow, so a short hair cut now will look longer in six months

You're 12 years old! Wait as long as you can before trying to becoming "grown up"

I'm a big fan of having short hair. It's so much easier to deal with. Just keep in mind that if it's too short you won't be able to put it up. Occasionally I miss being able to put my hair in a ponytail or bun.

If your hair is fast growing try cutting it short. But if your hair is slow at growing keep it up to your elbow and cut layers.
