Maldives - USD
We stayed in Kuramathi and everything was charged in USD. But take notes with you as well as the room boys and waiters will need tipping. Do this at the start of your stay and your service will be brilliant. Another 'currency' is football kit. All the boys on the island were completely mad about footie and I am sure that if you want to make someones day an old out of date kit would go down a storm and you would be treated like royalty.
Singapore - Singapore Dollars
Don't even bother to get money in the UK just draw it out at the airport or from a cash machine (get Nationwide Credit Cards they offer the best rate of exchange). Singapore is very technologically advanced so you won't have any problems spending your money.
Some people have advised to take Euro's - don't bother, it'll be a waste of your money.
USD are generally accepted in most places around the world - you can never go wrong taking some with you.
