I always answer first, as you do. Then if there is overlap, I go back and mention one or more others who have said the same thing. Funny but that bit of honesty seems to win me a lot of best answers when they are put to a vote.

I'll only go to answer a question if I can think of an answer that amuses me, or if I think it will be of real help. The answer is already in my head before I click to answer. If that means that sometimes I post the same as someone else has and I seem unoriginal then so be it. I do this for amusement for myself as much as anything, 'though I do tend to punch the air and high 5 the nearest person when I get a Best Answer!!!

I usually do read the answers; if the question is about factual information and someone's already said exactly what I wanted to say, I don't need to bother. But when it's a poll or something like this, then I'll often answer without reading the other replies first.

Sometimes I do and I am appalled at some of the answers given as they are often so wrong and no more than guesswork. If I know how to answer a question then I try to point out that certain answers in the list are just not of any use and that the asker should be aware of them. Otherwise this forum is quite a good one.

I read the answers first before committing myself to answering. This is for 2 reasons, the first being I don't see the point of constantly repeating answers that are already there. The second reason is I get an idea of who else is on Yahoo. Who to avoid and whom I think I might like to communicate with in future.

I actually answer the question right away, because I have a thought that I want to convey and I don't want to be distracted and lose the thought. Usually afterward, I scroll through and read the others, or at least a few of them.

generally yes as it's pointless to write the same stuff again, especially questions where people are looking for a factual answer like the name of a song or film. What is the point in 30 people telling them the same thing?

I read most of the shorter answers. The longer answers can be quite daunting, but, there are some really well educated people on yahoo who are becoming familiar to me now and I enjoy reading their answers and learning something new.

Me too. Sometimes after I read the other answers I feel that I should have commented on what others had to say, but I prefer to reply before reading what others have to say. It makes me sound original and independent of thought.
