Despite what SMURF says, Nero is NOT rubbish - its a damned good program, but like all software you have to use it correctly. One possible cause is that your burn speed is higher than the speed rating for the disc. Buffer underrun (although you shouldn't get one with Nero 7) can also destroy the disc. Are you certain that it isn't the discs that you are using - try a different brands and also try recording on a RW disc so if it screws up you can erase it and try again, not all DVD burners will record all brands of disc, especially the cheap burners and cheap discs. Also check the material you are burning and make sure you have chosen the correct format - ie music or video or data.

Can you be sure your hardware, the burner, is 100%? For me, it has been amazing how fast those devices turn to toast. It isn't Nero (and, that software gives a good overall performance with many automatic settings). Other burning software will oftentimes be very complex to set up for each run.
