Hand baggage restrictions:
Passengers are allowed to carry ONE item of hand baggage, no larger than:

56 centimetres tall (approximately 22 inches)
45 centimetres wide (approximately 17.7 inches)
25 centimetres deep (approximately 10 inches)

The folowing restrictions which apply to all liquids you wish to carry through an airport security checkpoint:

All liquids must be in individual containers not greater than 100ml capacity. They must be placed in one transparent re-sealable transparent bag, no larger than 20cm x 20cm (8" x 8") in size, and fit comfortably inside the bag so it can be fastened closed
Only one bag per passenger is allowed. The bag must be clear and re-sealable, such as ‘ziplock’ bags or bags with pressable seals. Larger bags or bags that are sealable, such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed
Each passenger must remove their clear plastic bag from their hand baggage and place it in on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening
Liquids in containers of more than 100ml capacity can be packed in your hold baggage.

So won't have any problem carrying insulin or your lip gloss.

Have a nice trip :)

Your lip balm is ok, and yes, you can bring your insulin for your diabetes. Most US airports have sharps containers in them for you to dispose of your needles. Some people find it handy to carry a letter from their doctor stating they have diabetes and need to have their insulin with them, however, you are not required to do so.

To speed things up as you go through security it's best to put all your meds together in a large zip lock bag (I use a gallon size). This way you know where they all are and if needed you can pull them out easily.

You may want to make up a list of your medical conditions, meds, dosages (including how often you take them), doctors, allergies to meds, and emergency contacts. Keep a list in your carry on and another with your meds. You never know when a medical emergency may happen, and if one does you may not be able to recall the necessary info emergency workers would need. If you're flying with a companion let them know where this info is so they can access it if needed. Although my husband lives with me and knows what my medical conditons are, he doesn't know what meds I take and when I take them. I always carry my list so that if anything happens, he won't have to try and remember, he can just pull it out and give it to the EMTs or ER staff. Just something to consider.

Remember that medical equipment does NOT count as a carry on. You are still allowed two carry ons *and* a bag for your medical equipment if needed.

Best thing to do is to get on the airline's website and check what you can and can't take. If they have no info on your Diabetes medicine, then give them a call and confirm. I live in Sydney Australia and recently travelled to Queensland and they confiscated my deodorant spray because I didn't have a lid on it! Weird...but since 911 the security measures are so extreme (understandably). I'd play it safe and check out their website so you're not delayed for your flight.

well the lip blam is okay, i went to NY in Feb and it was okay to take lip blam with me (it wasnt vasaline just a stick of lip balm) and things like pen ink and that was perfectly fine.
with the insulin, i think you need a note from your GP or hospital to prove that it is what you say it is and thst you need to take it etc but i would check on the US airline website.
