My dog is just laying around and won't eat. We are going to take him to the vets but i was curious to see if anyone knows what it may be? He is also getting increasingly skinny. Should he be taken to the vets or not? What is wrong with him?

Poor thing! Yes, you should definitely take him to the vet. Dogs act like that when they are sick or in pain. I hope he's okay!

Absolutely he needs a checkup. Dogs do tend to lay around all day after they reach a certain age, but he is getting skinny and that might be serious. Not eating is another cause for concern. Poor guy may be sick. I hope you have a good vet who will give your dog a thorough examination. Some vets are too quick with their exam and miss the problem. Let the vet take his time. Ask questions. It is a good idea to write them down as you would do for yourself. I surely hope that your dog is OK.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aUNKZ

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I'm no vet but i think him getting increasingly skinny could be directly related to him not eating, and laying around all day.

Maybe he is staging a peaceful protest about something, I would talk to him about it to see what his demands are. If all else fails take him to the vet (and get him put down, this should end his peaceful protest in a cheap but effective way)

Absolutely take him to the vets. When I worked at an animal hospital, all 4 vets had the same general statement: "As long as your pet is eating and drinking, it most likely is not too serious."

You don't mention how long it's been since he ate or how old he is, but at this point, please ! Just get him to the Vet !!

That is the exact behavior caused by SO many problems. Some are very serious, and some are simple to treat. There is no way for any of us to know..as we can't see the dog, nor do the testing.
I hope all goes well for your dog tomorrow at the vet's.

Yes he should go to the vets asap. If he is lethargic and not eating it may be quite serious. A sudden loss of weight could indicate kidney or liver problems.

There's surely something wrong with your dog. Maybe he's depressed and you may need a little more time with it. Or maybe he has a sickness. Try goin to the vet.

Hello... of course there is something wrong with your dog. He's not eating. If he's old, he may be dying. If he's still young, he may be in pain, or he may have a terminal disease
