Holi is a Hindu festival.it is a festival of colors, people put colors on each other ; this color is known as 'Gulal'.Flowers are also used instead of colors.
this festival is celebrated in every part of India.
The origin of Holi is based on a Hindu mythological story.:
There was a king named Hirnyakashyap-who was an evil king and wanted to become God and wanted every person in his kingdom to worship him. But,his own son-Prahalad was against him and worshiped his God.
Hockshop plot ed Prahalad's murder. He tried several ways to do so ,but , Prahalad was saved by his faith on God.
Holika-sister of Hirnyakashayap; had a magical cloak which was fireproof.she suggested to the king that she would wear the cloak and then, trick Prahalad to sit with her on a burning pyre; resulting in Prahalad's death.
but, Nothing happens to Prahalad and in the whole event Holika burns in the fire despite of the fireproof cloak.Hirnyakashyap regrets and Prahalad forgives him.
The term 'Holi' emerged from the name 'Holika'.
The festival reminds that with strong faith any one can conquer over any obstacle. It also tells that we should forgive our enemies.
