I went camping a few times last year but had the dog with us. We live in Scotland and were going to the Lakes tomorrow with my niece and no dog. Any come accross any interesting stuff we could do when we are down there? It would just really be a day trip thing so just some stuff to entertain my neice.

You don't say how old your niece is but there is always the Beatrix Potter museum and stuff associated with her. You could always go for a trip on one of the lakes, there are LOTS of birds to feed as well...but take your own bread as the bags of bird food are quite expensive...there are steam railways in the area as well

Here is an interesting link...you may be able to find something here...

scafnel pike, glorious scenery .st olafs englands smallest church, the graveyard is full of the dead from scafnel. lake buttermere, kendal. lots of small villiages very nice indeed. word of warning the beer is putrid. but dont let that spoil a good day out make sure you bring your camera. i would opt for st olafs situated in a lovely part of england.
