I'd have to say that it's due to all those self-righteous 'Christians' who think they're the holiest thing on earth and that homosexuals are disgusting and filthy creeatures. So much for loving a neighbour as oneself.
Yes the bible said homosexuality is a sin but honestly, how many people of God are completely perfect?
Agreed?

To VirtuousC...:
I am a Christian, I accepted Christ quite recently, and I have felt God's love and I still am.
The reason why I posted this question is basically to give homosexuals some encouragement and persuade them not to leave Christianity so readily, it's not like I'm disagreeing with the Bible.
I posted "how many people of God are completely perfect?" to say that there is hope and God still loves everyone. I'm not justifying the act.
And as you've guessed, I am a homosexual and I didn't choose to be so. I just realised I was one during puberty. I'm doing this celibate thing where I remain single forever. I know it sounds hard and almost impossible to live life without a partner, but I'm sure God has a reason for everything he does and hopefully he "redeems" me from my homosexuality someday, but until then, I'm celibate. You might disagree with what I'm saying but this is the path that I feel God has chosen for me. Who knows, God might have a purpose for me someday.

If you admit that homosexuality is a sin, then why say all these nasty things about Christians who are just agreeing with you, the Bible, and the God who spoke it? Nobody is perfect, you are right, but because we all fail doesn't mean we should just start approving evil. Thievery, rape, adultery, and greed are also sinful, and as Christians we must agree with God on the matter. We don't throw up our hands and say, "well, nobody's perfect, so from now on, theft, rape, adultery and greed are okay!" Would that make sense? If a homosexual attends church and hears God's Word on the matter, he has a choice, repent or don't repent. If he will not, he will be very uncomfortable week after week knowing that he is in sin as far as God is concerned, and yet he sits there essentially mocking God. That could get uncomfortable, don't you think? That's why they leave. Nobody is forcing sinners out the door, we're having a hard enough time getting them in the door.

Jesus is holy and no human race are perfect.......homosexual are very much welcome to join any religious organization but maybe you are saying that, after they learn that they should love what they are as a children of God then they end up leaving homosexuality and live according to their gender or some has a close mind person then they leave their religion and look where they can be comfortable....but the truth is they will never be comfortable after learning and having relationship with the Lord.

it fairly is because of the fact gay human beings are discriminated agsinst completely out of share to the bible reference that forbids it. they are publicly condemned, have rocks thrown at them and denied not purely rights to marry however the thought they are good human beings. the comparable e book condemning homosexuality additionally condemns the ingesting of shellfish. Exodu demands the dying sentence to be exceeded down on people who artwork on Sunday. yet each and every physique engaged on Sunday or taking section in a stunning piece of crab or lobster are spared from the wrath of the church whilst homosexuals have publish with abuse and discrimination for hundreds of years. What might take place if the church desperate that if one works on a Sunday they deny themselves the main appropriate to marry? it is what we are talking approximately, archaic dogma from an age in the past. we at the instant are not interior the midsection East 2,500 years in the past, so why could we pay interest to those insane regulations? We contradicted the Bible quickly as quickly as we banned and condemned slavery. With that precedent we could do it returned. we could recognize that whilst there may well be some good factors in this e book there are areas that have been written in lack of understanding and denying equality by way of unjust prejudice. Homosexuality should not be a sin. No different faith has ever positioned so heavy a cost on loving.

Um... well i think a lot of homosexual people who end up with the choice to leave the church are caught between observing the truth as told by God and what has beee deemed okay by society. In effort to get people to stop bashing and harassing gay people, people, the popular media, counselors, peacemakers, etc. have been touting that sexuality and "who you love" are things you are born with and cannot change. So some people are in deep conflict about how they can both be gay and exist as a Christian because they are drawing on their beliefs from sources other than one they are attempting to serve. There is where that verse that he will never put more on you than you can bear is what has to come into play. Believe- Everybody's got their own sexual frustrations.
Other gay people may leave the church because bringing homosexuality into the church by coming to church as gay couples is frowned upon. Here I have to agree, because if you are going to church to be healt and follow Gods word, why would you purposely bring a blasphemous activity into the house of God? Now, I know no sin is greater than the other and that we all have sin, but unfornately you gay date is a very obvious slap in the face.
I got a problem with cursing, but you better be sure I am trying my hardest not to curse in church. And sometimes I have inappropriate thoughts about very attractive young men, but best believe if I catch myself doing it especially in church, I need to stop. But if you bring your gay partner to church to be together as a gay couple in Christ (which is anti-thetical in itself), how are you showing a commitment to overcoming homosexuality and serving his desire regarding sexuality by fostering the very opposite of it in his presence?
I welcome everyone into the church and grace of God just as Jesus did. Love everyone as a human, with feelings and respect. But I live by knowing whats wrong is wrong, that I too do wrong, commit sin, and like everyone have to overcome personal desires, ego, judgments and expectations of society to see what is right in God and act accordingly.
It's not about everybody else being perfect, its about you asking God to guide you in His truth and then accepting it. If you are pursuing the Lord with ALL your heart(ego and assumptions removed) , then just keep on doing you.
The Lord never wants to see you turn your back to him especially because of someone else who calls themselves a Christian. Hope he touches our heart.

Here's my guess:
Some leave because they don't agree with the Bible saying it's an abomination. Many leave because of snotty Christians.
I once heard someone say, "I have no problem with Christianity, I just don't like Christians."
'Nuff said!
