I have had this reoccurring pain in the right side of my ribs, it feels like its something grinding whenever i move. I noticed the pain about three years ago but thought nothing of it, just figured I had hurt myself. But tonight I was in a car for about 15 hours and the longer i sat the worse it hurt.

When I move it almost feels as if something is moving/grinding between 2 ribs and it takes my breath away. I have thought about going to the e.r. and getting either an ultrasound or and MRI done. I haven't fallen or anything that could possibly have made me crack/fracture a rib. I just don't have the first clue as to what this could be, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

It's very difficult to say, not knowing exactly where the pain is, but it may be gallstones, or even a muscular problem caused by poor posture and weak core muscles. If you are in pain then you really do need to see a doctor.

Here is a link to some information about gallstones if you want to check your symptoms: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/gallstones/index.htm

well... you SHOULD see a doc. You know that by now I hope.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be gall stones. I got them when I was on the Atkins diet, or if I ate really fatty foods. Used to keep me up all night and it throbbed. Stress made it worse. My doctor prescribed BAKED POTATOES. Can you believe that? But it went away within a day and I did not need surgery. But for me it was dietary neglect and nothing more.

Yours sounds bad, and really hard to tell as an armchair doctor here. So get it checked out by a real doctor.

tell your doctor. symptoms sound like gallbladder. important organs on right side are liver and gallbladder.
