In the Navy i once stayed awake for at least three days straight. not just awake but actively Fixing machinery and standing watches. I started fixing the machinery then had to leave to stand watch, then got off watch and went back to the machinery then stood watch again! you get the point
I ate and drank at least twice but no sleep. I started getting blurry eyesight, mild or moderate halucinations/mind playing tricks, started almost passing out towards the end. i started getting shaky. and of course exhaustion and slow responses/reflexes. I dont suggest it to anyone! then i only got to sleep for 6 hours till the next full workday and another watch i had to stand!!!
and like fuzzchuzz said felt like i was out of body looking down at myself and the others (they had to stay up also, so i dont take all the credit!!!)

My longest was 54 hours. We were working on a special assignment, it needed to be done and there were only 3 of us left. Lots of pizza and laughs, I got very giddy toward the end. But we finished the project on time. Maybe not some of my best work but I was happy with the outcome so screw them that didn't stay up with us to make it happen.

36 hours. Some halucinations. Some feelings of delayed reaction. Very aware but almost out of body.

36 hrs. Started to mess up on little things, get moody, easily irritated, headache, general fatigue. Avoid it @all costs it isn't worth it.
