At age 17, she attempted burglary with a man. That ended tragically when a woman was murdered. I feel sorry for that woman & her family, but also for Delara & hers. Originally, Delara claimed to be guilty, but later said that she did so at the request of the man, to spare him the death penalty. Since she was 17 & Iran had agreed not to execute people under 18, they thought she would be spared, whereas the 19 yr. old man would not be. Delara is now 20 and awaiting execution. While it is true that we cannot know who actually committed the murder, it is plausible that Delara did lie to save her friend from the death penalty, thinking her age would spare her. While it was wrong to attempt the burglary, we all do things that are wrong & burglary is not deserving of death. Neither is telling a lie to save a friend from being executed. Since we cannot know who the guilty party is, it would be wrong to sentence Delara to death. Will you sign the petition? http://www.PetitionOnline.com/DL2222/

Someone said you have to adhere to your country's laws, but the country is not sticking to it's own laws. They have agreed to not to give the death penalty to those under 18, yet do so repeatedly.
Also, someone said that even I admitted that she could have been the murderer. Yes. However, has anyone heard of "assumed innocent until proven guilty"? You can't convict someone of something just because they MIGHT have possibly been the guilty one. Besides, there are two suspects in this murder, but only one of them is getting executed even though there isn't any more evidence that she did it, than there is that he did it. You should not execute someone without proof that they committed the crime. There is reasonable doubt here. There is reason to believe it may not have been her that committed the crime. When a murder has been committed, you do not convict all of the suspects for a murder only one committed, but you also do not convict a random one without more evidence pointing to them.

There should be justice for the victim and her family, but it is not justice to kill someone who didn't commit the murder. If you punish the wrong person, how is that justice? Also, you should keep in mind that Delara has a family, too. Why should her family have to suffer watching her die? What did they do? Even if she is guilty, I would not support the death penalty, but life in prison because it is too hard on the families of criminals to make them watch their children being hung. The families are not the guilty ones.
Also, it might not have even been Delara that committed the murder. I know her actions were wrong, but she should only be punished for the crimes she committed- not the ones we have no idea if she committed, or if he committed. It is not justice if you punish the wrong person.

Also, it has been said that the burglary led to the death. In a way, this is true, and I would feel guilty if I was in this position. However, it is not the burglary that caused the death. It is the murderer that caused the death. The other person that was involved in the burglary did not control the hand of the killer. I just believe we should show her some mercy. I really do feel sorry for the victim, but I don't want there to be more victims in this tragedy than their already has been.

While she might have some blame in this, if she is telling the truth, then I don't see her as a murderer. The death was not caused by an accident resulting from the attempted burglary. If it had been, I would see it as more of her fault than this. It resulted from actual murder as far as I know, so for that reason, I'd blame the person that actually did it.
I do not mean to forget the victim. I really do feel sorry for her and those that love her, but killing someone else won't fix anything, especially if it's not even the right person. Punishing the wrong person seems to simply be committing another crime. Plus, it could be said that the people who think this woman deserves to die are forgetting someone- the people that love her. Her family would suffer terribly if she were to be hung, but they are innocent. Why should they be made to suffer, too?

You care too much for a felon. Why not put that energy to better use? She was a willing participant in a chain of events that led to death and perjury. Is that someone who is more deserving of life than the murder victim?
You are free to question the laws of Iran, but it is their justice system at work, not ours. Presumption of innocence is peculiar to the US justice system, not theirs.

She took part in a crime that unfortunately someone was murdered. A life was taken away and just because that person is no longer here, we tend to forget them. It's high time victims are considered and criminals must be accountable for their actions. Also she committed perjury, which is lying before the court, IF that is the truth, because once a lie always a lie. Who can believe her now?Burglary doesn't deserve the death penalty, but note that this isn't the issue now, it's the death of an innocent person that this death penalty is being given.

Your right burglary isn't grounds for death. You did say however that during the burglary someone was murdered. Also you point out that we will not know if she did or did not murder someone. So she may be getting the correct punishment under her law, if this was a clearer case, where the young women did not murder someone then I would say this petition should be signed, but by signing you may also be letting a killer go free.

that is a flaw in capital punishment, you can get the wrong guy and then later when you realise, its too late. However, it is almost impossible to PROVE for definite if someone is guilty and some people deserve death. I do not believe that burglary warrants death, but this constitutes as murder: this was these two peoples fault that this other woman died. I can't sign the petition without knowing more about the case.

It's called felony-murder doctrine. People can't go around commiting serious crimes thinking that no one can possibly get hurt or die during the commission of the crime. It happens; such as in this case. Let the family of the victim and society get some justice. I'm definitely not gonna help you save her.

sometimes the laws can seem harsh but if in the commission of a crime, even a minor crime, an innocent person dies it is legally murder in most parts of the world. The charge is up to the prosecutor in the U.S. and some other countries and usually includes all the participants involved (unless they attempted to stop the act) . The fact that she changed her story surely must point to her guilt and involvement in the act.

While it is unfortunate that she is in this situation. She did partake in a crime that directly led to the murder of another human being . What about the victim shouldn't there be justice for her?
Not that im cold blooded but i cant sign without knowing all the facts. Like how close was she to her 18th b-day? did they bring the weapon with them when they broke in? There are so many questions.
a complete case study would be needed.

Even if she didn't commit the actually murder, you yourself admit that she not only assisted in the burglary (which makes her an accessory to the crime), but also tried to let the actually murderer escape justice by perjuring herself in her own testimony.
I say let her die, if not for the murder, then for the cover up. if for no other reason than to keep someone that stupid out of the gene pool!

i think of you decide on countless help from a expert like a psychotherapist or something. you're being fairly egocentric attempting to kill your self and hurting your self each and all of the time.. in simple terms think of how you're making your loved ones sense extraordinarily how do you think of your mothers and dads will sense in the event that they lost yet another newborn. Having twins is a suitable present with the purpose to lose possible desire to have delivered wonderful soreness for you and your loved ones and your mothers and dads will nonetheless be suffering that soreness as a make sure will never recover from the dying of their newborn, time makes subject much less puzzling yet never extra effective. so think of what could ensue on your mothers and dads lives in the event that they lost you besides - their different twin (and you probable remind them of your sister each and all of the time) you could smash their existence. think of approximately different persons for a metamorphosis quite than in simple terms your self its no longer in simple terms your existence that's interior the soundness. desirous to be in soreness is loopy - i myself go through soreness each and daily and that i've got finished for almost 3 years and that i could provide or do something to have all of it taken away or for it to quit. Get your self help and take the help with open arms which you're turning out to be into this ward.. make your self extra effective no longer just to your loved ones's sake yet for you besides.
