You just can't say that because some music has a drum beat and someone rhyming that it is not God worthy. That is no more than judging a book by its cover. About 9 months ago I happened to listen to some Christian rap for the first time, by a group called the Cross Movement. I was quite surprised that they were able to successfully communicate the gospel through rap music. Rap music is no more of a sin, than rock music is - it is the message that counts.

I might not be an expert, but I think much of gospel music period is becoming more secular. Are the singers in it for the mega-bucks and fame, or to communicate a message? Are the gospel rap / gospel rock artists trying to reach young people for Christ? Do the gospel choirs jump at the chance to sing back up for secular artists?

When it comes to music I do not think that individuals should be limited to just one form. That said, "Holy" Rap is not an alternative, but another form to add to the spectrum of music that you already listen to. It would be very hard to just stand there, watch an auditorium of young people listening to gospel rap, and then tell them that they are not okay with God. Who knows, maybe the form of gospel music that you listen to was once considered "worldly" also.

Jesus said his followers were no part of the world. How can a true christian, mimic worldly things and still say they are christian?
Ask yourself does God really accept that kind of music as honorable worship to his name and purpose. It may be time to dig down deep in your heart and think of who really God is and what type of acceptable worship does he accept not what you want.
