I'm an 11-year-old Filipino girl.I walk to and from school everyday, but I think it's just two blocks away. My weight is 102 pounds/43 kilos. My height is somewhere between 4 feet and 8 inches to 5 feet. For snacks, I eat sometimes fruits, sometimes crackers, etc.. It's pretty much varied, but I try to eat a lot of fruits.I've also reduced my rice, and I try to walk around our yard in my free time. Can anyone tell me any 'small things' that I can do to burn calories? I tap and swing my feet when I sit or stand up, I tap my fingers when I walk, and I try to chew 30-35 times every bite(does that help?). I can't even ask my mom to buy less sweet snacks when she goes grocery shopping 'cause she doesn't want to let me diet(although, she doesn't insist I eat more rice). If I just maintain my current weight until I grow taller, will it just even out soon? Even if it will, I still want to lose weight and become thinner, and I hope to become thinner by next school year. Any tips?

I don't really have that much time to go jogging in the stadium... just so you know. And I'm pretty much on the shy side so jogging around the yard dodging branches and leaves(half-garden) plus the dogs isn't really on my things to do. Although if walking around in my free time everyday will help, I"d be willing to do it.

Run for a certain period of time. Walking is good but not intense enough.

Walk about half an hour a day. Walk to the library, walk to your friends' house, walk around town. Drink about eight glasses of water a day, spaced out, as sometimes your body will hold onto water if it's not getting enough. You don't mention protein, but you should be eating some protein. You can mix things like rice and beans or wheat bread and peanut butter to get complete proteins if you're not eating fish or meat. And yes, as you grow taller, it will even out. Think less about your weight and more about exercising and eating healthy food: you don't want to stunt your growth by eating too little, and you don't want to force your body into starvation mode. Oh, and your mother can buy sweets, but you don't have to eat them.

You are far too worried about your weight. You are a good weight for your height. Try working on things that boost your self esteem. You need to be 11 and enjoy that. Don't stress on weight you're far too young, and there is nothing wrong with you. Stop all that twitching to loose a few calories. I'd be worried that you are on the brink of a serious eating disorder. So go hang out with your friends, go skating and to the movies and stop all the fretting over calories. Its not healthy.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!

You are not fat and do not need to diet. But I applaude you for thinking about eatting good, healthy foods and moving to burn calories. If you think about it, everything you eat IS your diet.
