I just got some shelves that I want to hang. If I screw into the studs, what's the best way? I'm nervous, it's my first time.

plan this out carefully and carefully place the screw where you want it to sink in deeply.guide it in slowly and don`t hesitate to stop if you feel it`s not going in straight.

OmG!!! Best innocent(hmmm...Or is it) wording of a question I have seen in a long time....lol. But seriously...Without knowing if these are the kinds of shelves with the srewholes already built in or the kind that you decide where to put the screw I'll tell you both ways. Either way the first thing is to locate the studs in the wall.
1.If they don't already have the screwholes in them than its simply a matter of using a stud finder to locate the stud in the wall and then screw away.
2. If they are the kind that have the screwholes already in them and they don't line up with the studs then you'll need some kind of anchor to hold the screws in the sheetrock. The kind of anchor will depend on how much weight you plan to be putting on them.

well if i were to judge by your other questions the best way to screw your studs would be for you to bend over and let them screw away

drill a smaller hole than your screw. this will serve as your guide so you wont miss. don't be afraid. there'll always be a second time.
