Skirts in Church?

Question

I like to wear short skirts. It can keep me cool when it is hot (which down here in Big D, gets quite hot). Is it wrong for me to wear a short skirt to church? A short skirt for me comes about a finger length above the knees. I don't want to be a ho in church, but not a prude either. There are alot of nice guys there.

I always wear "you know what's" underneth.

To me people should be allowed to wear anything they want in church.. well almost anything.
I think it'd be fine if you wore the skirt.. just as long as you got some you-know-whats on underneath ;)

Knee length isn't really short- especially not in the US where people seem to find hankerchiefs suitable tops.

However, for a religious place, you should be a little more conservative- How conservative depends on what expected of you. Look around the church and all the other young girls there. Anyone wearing short skirts? How do they come of as to you? Sluts? If so, don't do it.

If you think they look perfectly fine, and also they don't attract stares of disapproval from older members, then go right ahead.

Remember to make sure that your skirt looks decent- only you can judge that for yourself

Just remember that when you sit down the skirt hikes up even further so a slightly above the knee length skirt could be half way up your thighs when you sit. I actually prefer a longer, fuller cut skirt for keeping cool. When you walk and the skirt sways it creates a breeze. Oh and nice guys like to use their imagination if you know what I mean!

To be frank, skip the short skirts in church. I've seen some of the younger set wearing them, or wearing midriff-baring tops and lowrider jeans, and I just don't think it is appropriate. Something just below the knee or at knee length would be more appropriate.

If you're in Dallas, isn't your church air conditioned? Ours in Houston are, and the walk from the car to church is maybe two minutes (and it isn't that hot, even with the humidity at 10:30 in the morning). My wife has a collection of summery, light fabrics that keep her comfortable. Maybe skip the wool and go with cotton or (gasp) poly-cotton!

You are a darling girl! Here I was assuming that short skirt meant the same thing to you as it does to Paris Hilton. But then it turns out you are a young lady, and one of taste and refinement at that. What a relief.

Knee length is fine for church, assuming you sit with knees together and perhaps your ankles crossed.

It would only venture into 'ho territory if it were shiny and/or covered in zippers in sensitive places. And the young men you find there are at church because they have some values, I guess, so I'm guessing they would prefer to date a woman who wouldn't send their dear grandmothers into cardiac arrest.

You don't have to worry about appearing prudish unless the skirt is ankle-length double-knit polyester paired with a long sleeved blouse buttoned at the cuffs and neck.

Just a little above the knee like you're describing is not skanky short. You're fine. You just want to avoid skirts short enough to show the goods when you sit down. Or get out of a limo.

God asks people to come as they are. I grew up in my uncle's church and we always had to wear long skirts but I grew out of that because I knew that God wanted me to come as we are or were. Anyway, your reason sounds pretty reasonable as to why you don't want to wear short skirts - be comfortable. If you're not worried about other people's judgements wear what makes you comfy.

You go to church to learn about God, not to come on to nice guys. Don't wear short skirts. Nice guys are not attracted to ho's, they find nice women attractive.

Wear your skirt, try to keep you knees together. I think we know the reason for this question, and yes, if you or someone else thinks it is inappropriate, it probably is. But it is more important to go to church.
