In our country ( India ) we do respect our elders hence elder Brother gets respect and younger one gets love from all elder family members.
Some times we also give more importance( Power ) to our younger Brothers/Sisters if they are intelligent and sober.

according to me in india the elder brother is respected he gets to make all the major decisions in the family he works like a dog
gets all the blames and puts everything on his head but the younger brothers are the luckiest they get to do nothing because they are always and forever small but as they become the pets in the family they get everything without any hard work or effort this is my personal family experience

The one who can prove himself. Be elder or younger, till the kids are young, the elder is supposed to lead as an example for the elder. But as but of them mature, the one who values his parents more and is able to contribute for them is valued.
