I'm LDS and next year I'll be going to institute. As far as I know, it's basically a continuation of seminary. I might be going to college about an hour away from home, and I'm trying to figure out if I should go to the institute on campus, or one that's close to my house. How long is it, is it everyday, and what exactly do you do? Can you schedule like a MTF or TuTh schedule like with college classes, or is it like seminary with it every day. Thanks!

I go to an institute now in my home stake and used to go to one in college. It's a bit different in both places. In college, you can choose your schedule, and if the institute is large enough (often college ones are) what specific topic you want to take (e.g. BoM, Living Prophets, mission prep, etc.) and when you want to take it (MWF, TTH, etc.)---like you said, just like a college class.
In many cases, though, including the one I take in my stake, it is very much like a continuation of seminary. We have the topic of the year (right now it is the D&C) and learn the basics for that. But if it is this, it is usually just once a week, on say Thursday night, and is definitely not every day.
Hope this helps! Enjoy institute!
