And Jesus spoke to his disciples saying, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, hand out tracts to people to show them in short, 10 minute readings how they are wrong. Then people will worship me and you will all score major points with me since you successfully treated the masses like dumb animals."

I mean, really, the time of the tract is over. This is postmodern time, lovelies. We are the Good News on this earth, not a tract. We are the messengers, not the tract.

Down with tracts! Up with actually relating to people and helping them out :0

I used to absolutely hate tracts.

Then a friend of mine had a rather odd occurance. A friend of his gave him a call and told him that he wanted him to go have a talk with a guy he knew that worked at a gas station.
My friend gave a tract to the gas station attendent after speaking with him for about an hour. He made sure to write his name and phone number down in the tract before he left, just in case the guy wanted to call him later on.

A couple weeks later, we're about to drive from Knoxville back to Nashville when he gets a call. A guy wanted to meet and walk with him, so we swing by a Burger King before we leave.
My friend had never seen the guy before in his life, but he had a tract with his name and number in it.

The gas station attendent had talked with this guy and given him the tract, which allowed my friend to lead that guy to christ.

While I still think tracts are a bit over done, they can still be a nice aid.

I think God can use anything as long as we use it when he wants us to, not just as an excuse to say you tried when you really didn't.

The Chick tracts have become an ingrained part of American arts and letters, for better or for worse. For worse in that they are horribly drawn, idiotically scripted, and represent a hysterical, narrow, very mean sort of Christianity.

For better in that they are so much fun to make fun of.

I agree with you in general, though I see a place for tracts sometimes. "My word does not come back to me empty", though they would have to take it in properly first.

I note you are one of the few who know the word "tracts". Most of the people who set store by them call them "tracks".

What ever works. My church hands out tracks ,they do work.I am in this church today because a young man gave me a track.
One plants-one waters
God gives the increase.
Let each person witness as God leads.
