I was checking the status of my sister's flight on the Miami airport website, and I noticed on the live time flight information for departures, they list a flight for "LAB Airlines" Flight 8501, and the destination was Camaguey, Cuba, but the flight was cancelled.

I thought that flights are not allowed to fly to Cuba from the US? Is it a mistake on the website?

American Airlines (from Miami) and Continental Airlines (from New York's JFK Airport) have direct flights to Cuba, however these flights are charter flights that are regulated by the U.S. Treasury. If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident you must have a Treasury license before you can travel on these flights. The flights benefit Cuban exile communities in Northern New Jersey (suburbs of New York) and Miami. You will have to book your travel directly with the authorized travel agency that the U.S. Treasury department has selected, Marazul Tours. Non-U.S citizens who are not permanent residents can travel on these flights without a treasury license, however they also must book through Marazul Tours.

Americans of Cuban extraction have enjoyed a little-known exemption for family visits for more than a decade. Each year, about 100,000 Cuban Americans or exiles have obtained Government licences to go to Cuba on un-publicised special charter flights from the "secret" concourse E of Miami international airport.

Airlines also offer charter flights.
