I'm trying to figure out what makes this tasty and quick dish so incredibly fattening. I wondered if maybe it had to do with all the oil and salt in the seasoning. I could be completely wrong, but eh, I figured I'd ask anyways.

The thing is I never really use the seasoning packet, maybe a little sprinkle into the drained noodles for a hint of flavor. So I'm wondering how that changes the fat and calorie content. Anyone's help or insight would be greatly appreciated. :D

The fat is in the noodles (#2 ingredient is 'partially hydrogenated palm oil')..

The packet's top 3 ingredients are 'salt', 'msg', and 'sugar'.. YUCK..

not using the packet will not lower the fat content at all.. It may lower the calorie content a little, but not much..

Hope this helps

It's the sodium in the noodles and the packet. The noodles are cooked in salted liquid - possibly with other flavorings. Between that and the packet, you've got a good chunk of sodium. Yummy, but should be taken in moderation.

Most of the instant noodles are fried briefly in oil while manufactured, so the fat comes from there. I look for the noodles with much lower fat content, these noodles are dried.
