Hi, everyone.
I am african-american girl, and I never grew up taught to look at skin color, or stereotype people. but all the time I seem like I am falling or starting to like people who aren't african-american, but mostly caucasian or hispanic.
If you were to see an african-american in public linking arms with a caucasian or hispanic, what would you think?
This question is not meant to be racist.
Just say whatever you feel.
Because all of my friends say that they would never date outside of their race, but I really don't have a problem with it.
It could be the sweetest guy outside of your race, or something, and you would never be able to meet him if you were to stay inside of the same-race relationship. Are y'all getting the idea that I am trying to say and describe? What do you think about interracial couples?

I never even thought of this before, because it really isn't an issue for me. It never even crossed my mind that it should be something to have an opinion on. I think you have answered your own question adequately: What if the love of your life is of another race than yours? You may overlook them! That is really the best attitude to have. Love is love after all, and it comes in all different shapes, forms and sizes. I wouldn't bother too much about your friends never dating outside of their race. But it's cool that they say they don't have a problem with it if you do.
By the way: I am caucasian, have dated black people and never had any weird or racist comment made to me by friends, family or strangers in the street. It really shouldn't be an issue, and in my experience it isn't.

I am white, my husband is black. I never looked at skin color as anything to be concerned about. None of my friends or family have ever had a problem with us. To be perfectly honest the main people who ever give us sh*t are black girls and white men. It is rare but it does happen. My husband is in the military, and we are amazed at the amount of interracial couples we have seen since he has been in. Damn near half the couples we see around here are. It's great! It is more common then you think. Go with your heart and not with what others say. Good luck!

Interracial relationships are going to really change the future in America. I think it's kind of outdated now to think that interracial dating is anything new. I don't really have an opinion about it though. I woudn't date outside my race only because I'm not attracted to other races. Also, I think "uncommon" interracial relationships are interesting, even in big cities. I think the rare ones are Asian man/white woman and black woman/white man.

Unfortunately in the year 2007 a large percentage of our population has issues with skin color. It's an evolutionary defense mechanisim against exposure to sunlight, nothing more nothing less. Skin color SHOULD HAVE as much an effect on a relationship as hair color. You may have a preference, blondes or red heads, but you certainly wouldnt reject a beautiful brunette. I wish we all could live in a world were interracal couples were viewed equally, but unfortunately friend...you'll encounter opposition in a lot of places. You pick cars based on color, not relationships

I don't have a problem with intereacial relationships. I'm Caucasian and I would date an african-american girl if I felt a connection with her.

I think that if you are happy, who am I to say it is wrong? As far as your friends, well...OK, they don't want to date outside their race. Either they know what they like (and there's no problem with that) or they're cutting themselves off from great possibilities. Either way, the decision on who you date is yours, not theirs. Go out, link arms, treat each other well, and be happy!

It is certainly not a problem in any meaningful or objective way. However, as long as there are communities and individuals who consider it a problem, people will have to ask questions like yours. It is a sad fact of the current world. I hope, with the help of people like you, it is changing.

in today's world, it's not a big deal. the place where i work has about 20 inter-racial couples, and nobody even blinks an eye. love is color blind, but there are a lot of folks who believe that inter-marrying pollutes the race.

Love knows no boundaries. You can't help who you fall in love with, afterall what makes a person of one color different than a person of a different color. What counts are the feelings you have for each ohter.
