I made my husband a list of 365 things that I loved about him. HE LOVED IT. He has it in our saftey deposit box so nothing can happen to it. He also did the same for me... and I cried and loved it. It will be super romantic for her... and it shows a lot of thought and heart.

go to the library find a book on how to make origami cranes try making them your self it would a very sweet thing to do or ask her family how to someone might know how. or a weekend get away for 2 to someplace quiet and romantic away from the hustle and bustle of a normal day for her. or perhaps something from her culture that is nice to do on a first anniversery try a scrapbook of the years past until today that you have been together and leave plenty of room in for the future and you don't need just photos in it add pehaps a something from your first date or when you proposed to her or even when and where you first meet. but again leave plenty of room for the future to be added.

I made my husband a message in a bottle. You can also order them custom made off the internet. We had a mini trip and I found a really neat bottle that I painted and inside on nice old looking paper I had written a poem. Then I burned the edges. He loved it!!! To top it off I had it waiting for him on a massage table at a spa so after he read the poem we had side-by-side massages.

Sure money is nice but that is insensitive. Do something like your names together on old paper look with some kind of saying underneath like a poem or something. I'm sure you can find something on the web.

Why don't you make her an album filled with pictures and mementos of your first year as a married couple?
Create the album yourself instead of using a store bought album...that will incorporate the paper theme.

or a photoalbum with pictures of your first year officially together with little notes!!!

You can give anything and just wrap it in toilet paper or kleenex. Paper is just the tradition. but you show up with just paper, you may need it to wipe the tears when she gets mad at you.
