I bought a gorgeous solid wood mahogany sleigh bed. The bed is hand carved. It's has little legs that hold the bed up that look normal but it also has pieces that just sit over each leg and make the legs look detailed. What are those pieces? I don't think they serve a purpose other than making the legs look pretty. THANKS. BEST ANSWER WILL BE CHOSEN.

These peices are called inlays & are meant to be decorative.(Unless you found a hidden inset behind them! Then they are niche covers!)

They are called 'Decorative Facias' or 'Decorative Cladding'
