I truly believe that our heavenly father and the only begotten son exist and are still today living beings. But, my faith in them is like to a stranger. I am an LDS member, and I know and understand the ordinances of the gospel. Through my consistent prayers, fasting every sabath, and reading the scriptures precept by precept, the holy spirit has been generous to me. Providing me with the understanding of the church and life, magnifying my soul to a whole new degree (grace) providing me with a strong testimony of truth . But, at times I have fainted deeply from such things, for patience does not dwell with me, and a reprobate mind I have. I have come to love the holy spirit, but the father & christ I see more of the creature than the creator. I HOPE, through do time I will forsake my ways and rely more on my faith than my understanding, and learn patience & repentance.

Sounds to me as if you have a good heart and an astute mind. I think, if you are afraid and do not want to be a son of perdition, you won't be.

But you must see that the Church of LDS is false religion, following false doctrine. There is enough of the true way in it to get people fooled but they have added to the scriptures in a way that is unacceptable to God.

Either they are right, in which case every other Christian denomination and group of believers is wrong and misled, or they are wrong and misled themselves. You have to decide.

Visit other churches; pentecostal and Catholic for example, to get a broad picture. See what effect this has on you, and pray for God to show you the truth.

"Seek and you shall find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Good luck.

According to the Book of Mormon, basically the only way you can be a son of perdition is to have a full witness, know that it happened, and deny it. For example, if Joseph Smith denied that he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, truly knowing that it happened and being the man he was, then he would qualify. I don't know your situation and it's not my place to judge, but you can be very safe in assuming that you are NOT a son of perdition. From what I hear, you are not in this situation. It's normal to falter and struggle, but those trials are there to make ou faith stronger.

When you reach up to Our Father in Heaven, remember to reach up with your heart, not with just your limited mind that cannot possibly understand everything. The Lord will reveal to us what He wants and everything else will be a mystery until we see him face to face in Heaven where we can ask Him ourselves. You sound like you're on the right path, but you need to ask Jesus to help you up when you fall. Kinda like the very well known "Footprints" poem where it says at the end "It was then, that I carried You". God did not put a Spirit of fear in us, that is of the enemy. Pray Jesus to give you a loving, personal relationship with Him. In that, there is no stranger. I don't know what LDS is,but if it denies the Deity of Christ, it is of the enemy. You cannot serve two masters. God knows your heart. Trust in Him to give you Peace and joy. One can know all about the Bible and God/Jesus and still not know (love) Him. "Know God, know peace. No God, no peace"

If works could get you into Heaven, then it was useless for Christ to die on the Cross -- the Apostle Paul in Galatians. Don't worry, Jesus has already paid the price for your entrance into Heaven and no one can take you from His hand, not even yourself. Your ticket has already been bought, it can't be taken away or lost and it comes with a guarantee.
