Here is a math trick that is pretty cool.
1) Get a calculator. (You won't be able to do this in your head.)
2) Key in the first three digits of your phone number(Not the area code)
3) Multiply this answer by 80.
4) Add 1.
5) Multiply this by 250.
6) Add the last 4 digits of your phone number.
7) Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8) Subtract 250.
9) Divide this number by 2.
Do you recognize the number? Cool, huh?

Do the math. If X = the first 3 digits and Y = the last 4 digits, we get:
(80X +1)*250 + 2Y -250 (look familiar already?) /2
The 250's cancel out (hence, it's a red herring) and you end up with:
((80)(250)X + 2Y)/2
The 2's cancel out and you get:
(40)(250)X + Y, or 1000X + Y.
Can you see how you'd get your phone number back?
