I have had rottweilers in the past, and I currently have one now. I LOVE them- I find them to be sweet, calm, and loyal, as well as brave and tough when they need to be (although mine is a big mama's boy, and is afraid of our cat!). I see that German Shepards and Belgian Malinois are commonly used in law enforcment. They are great dogs- very smart and tenacious. But I'm wondering why Rottweilers are not used. Too stubborn? Too intense? Are they used anywhere in the U.S.? What about Europe?

They are used in many places. Some departments have not gone with them or have not replaced them because they are very "intimidating" to the public. I know that they are just like any other dog used by law enforcement but in many agencies eyes the public's opinion of intimidation is very important.

there is not any Police branch interior the international which could arise with the money for the few left that are surely able to doing the artwork. The few that are used, are extra for intimidation component than something. Any obese individual of their 70's can somewhat out walk the familiar public of Rottweilers right now. it fairly is stunning what out of control breeding can do in 20 years.

They use to use Rottweilers, but seem to prefer using the German Shepard. Maybe the Rottweilers became too unpredictable, much in the same way a Pitbull does.

Rottie are not used much, because they are NOT as agile as the Shepherds and the Belgin Malinois.
