oh my god yes with that little ram I'm surprised it started at all and did not crash
vista requires 2gig 1gig min just to operate not including other programs running.
best if you want vista buy a PC made for it.
faster processors and faster memory.
if xp was running on it, its not good enough for vista, so it will run way slower than xp
stick with xp for another yr until More things are made compatible for vista what a headache

Only having 512mb of ram certainly doesn't help. Microsoft's minimum requirements are a joke. 1gb is likely the true minimum for decent performance and many computer web sites and magazines recommend 2gb. As for switching back, I think you probably have to format and do a clean install since xp is older (upgrading in-place will not work.)

David is right...once you've installed Vista you can't go back to XP by removing Vista. You'll have to uninstall Vista and then reinstall XP from the disc you have.

Gotta install XP, once you go vista you cant go back.
