We've never had any direct conversation before, and I've had bad experiences with some other people around there, which makes me wary. Also, I'm intimidated by other people being around, but I want to woo her.

Ok I read this wrong the first time, yes go for it, start a conversation, now don't start talking about how you feel about you'll most likely scare her away. You need to get to know this girl first, if she's like most girls, they want to get to know about a guy before they go out with them. So this means you can take her on dates, or hang out and bring friends so it won't feel too awkward, and don't make it going to see a movie because then you guys would just be sitting there and won't really communicate.

Absolutly!!! Actually she will be flattered that you have interest in her and are brave enough to be forward and let her know. More than likely... the person that you want to talk to usually likes you as well but she is waiting and hoping that YOU approach her first. i bet she has already been talking to her friend about how cute you are!! Girls to this ya know.... we liked to be aproached. I hope that this gives you enough confidence!!! You will do just fine.... trust me... ;o)
