Because some people dont believe we are human beings until we are born, and can breathe on our own. It makes me sick, but thats how it is. Personally, if being able to breathe is what makes a baby "human", then I guess me and all the other preemies werent real people until we got off our respirators!

Yes as the first answerer said it is Korea that they do that. My girlfriend was adopted here from Korea and there was great debate as to what age to put on her American documents because of this. So you are right on...funny when you come up with an idea that has been thought of before...makes you think maybe you were somehow there before huh?

It would have to be an estimate because you can't know for sure exactly what day conception occurred. Also, on your birthday you would always think of your parents having sex, lol. But it is a nice idea.

I don't know the reason why not, but I suspect it's because it's difficult to figure out the exact date of conception, whereas birth is obvious. I believe in Chinese tradition they do though (maybe just traditionally and not still, though).

Some places do. I think it is Korea. When you are born, you are one. But your age is calculated from your BIRTHday ie the day you were born.

Because you are not independently alive until you are functioning on your own, breathing and eating without the umbilical cord.

Because BIRTHdate is the day you are BORN...BIRTH is the same as being BORN. When we are in utero we are not BORN...therefore our mother's have not given us BIRTH and we do not have a BIRTHdate...and since I'm not Korean...I don't care what they do there...
