do i need proteins or carbohydrates or what and if it is proteins what kind of foods pack the highest

you need a good balance of all nutrients. Try having a diet milk drink between meals. My husband drinks com plan ( a milkshake type drink ) between meals rather that instead of a meal. It worked for him.
Sometimes going on a diet for a week can help you gain weight. Your body pa nicks and when you start eating will crave more food to stockpile. This is why diets are hard to stick to and people tend to add extra weight when they come off them.

Fats and carbs are best to gain weight. Body converts excess energy to fat and stores it for a rainy day. If you like sweets, gorge on them. Eat nuts which are high in fats. And do some muscle building to tone your body.
