I'm very excited about going but I'm nervous aswell.. any advice to make my 8 hour plane ride easier from people who have traveled before? Is flying scary? I'm going to Paris and all over Italy with 25 kids from my school and one teacher, I can't wait. Can anyone suggest anything that they think i should bring besides the obvious, maybe something you wouldn't normally think of that turned out to be fun or necessary to their trip? Can you suggest any good clubs in the major cities of Italy?

Get a travel converter set. I've been overseas many many times, but it never stops amazing me how often I accidentally plug an electronic into another nation's plus only to blow out a hair drier, ipod etc. Bring comfy shoes and comfy stuff to walk in. European streets and cities are contructed differently. Old streets with all the major things to see constructed close together designed for pedestrians unlike the US. You WILL walk more than you do here (its great trust me!) lastly, enjoy the flight, geting there is half the fun. If you get nervous with flying switch to an aisle seat and listen to music, sleep or read / watch the movie / do a crossword..oh and take pictures...lots, you never knnow when you'll get the chance to go back again and this will likely be one of those trips that decades from now you look back on and smile about. You CANNOT take enough pics believe me. Buy postcards and send them to friends and family, it'll really make their day that even though you're enjoying Europe, you are still thinking about them. Buy a few write short notes and drop em in the post, takes a minute to make someone smile all day. Oh and enjoy yourself!

Flying to Europe for your first flight? That is really quite a big step.

Watch the movie or read a book. A student reading a book? Get real, that does not happen.

Good clubs in the major cities of Italy? Yeah, that is the purpose of going to Europe. Remember what happened to Natilie Holloway when she went on a class trip.

The best advice you can get is pack light..You end up wearing your favourite clothes all the time anyway.. Don't bring travellers checks, they are a nightmare to get cashed..no matter what the ads say..bring a bank card..you get a better exchange rate, and you don't have to worry about finding an open bank to cash them.. the travellers check offices ARE NEVER OPEN.. believe me I live in europe.. bring a bank card. if your bank will give you two even better. Drink lots of water on the flight. where loose fitting shoes on the plane, and have fun..you are going to love it. Also good is a small collins dictionary for translating.. Locals appreciate it when you at least attempt to speak the language.. another hint, is don't be loud.

I fly alot and found that a good book or watch a mvie will take your mind off things.
Also some good stiff drinks on the plane is also great.
And your very safe in a plane too. moreso than in a car.
