BACKGROUND: I'm a newcomer to surround sound, in process and replacing old crt tv and doing some in-wall wiring

MY GOAL: above-average in-wall speakers and audio receiver

Which speakers should I use for front, rear, center, etc.? I looked at the "surround sound in a box" deals but they don't come with in-wall type of speakers, so I don't know where to begin.

You could easily spend several thousand dollars on in-wall speakers if you wanted to.

It even has a guide for installing your speakers.

I personally think the best sounding in-wall speakers I've heard are JBL. But everybody's taste in what sounds good is different. It's best to listen for yourself & buy the speakers you think sound best.

start with an good receiver like onkyo ..then go with the infinity..or the Polk RC80i . the round speakers have a fuller sound than the square two way speakers(Tc)the 80i run about $250 bucks a pair at Fry's electronics, then for the center channel and woofer..go directly from the receiver if possible....your center channel in the 5.1 decode has all the voice in it, so ideally it should be right below or above the t.v. and the woofer can be any corner of the room..most prefer the front far left or right corner

setting up of homestead Theater cables is diverse than protection cabling. protection cabling is extra often than not a CAT5e or comparable type cable. it fairly is extra trouble-free to tug and smaller holes on floor joists are required. HIFi cables are lots thickeer and much less versatile, and you do no longer prefer somebody yanking them by way of small holes and bending them around corners, relatively coaxile cables. in case you over bend a coaxile cable, it is going to compromise the sign circulate on the distorted factor. i'd see if your protection equipment guy has put in HiFi cable earlier, and if he or she has, it would be ok. i'm beneficial you're encountering a great markup from the homestead theater setting up guy, yet they maximum possibly gave you propose on what to purchase, and there's a cost concerning to that. additionally, they might warrantee the setting up is something is going incorrect, or is something isn't linked applicable. in case you chop up the provider, forget approximately approximately any warantee. A $1500 cable undertaking isn't possibly that great, and it would be straightforward, letting you forget approximately approximately warrantee's. what share cables are being put in, and what style of cables? in the event that they're extra often than not speaker wires, you could enable the protection guy do it. in case you have distant places for DVD gamers and different components, and are working various line point audio and video cables, HDMi or DVI cables, it fairly is fairly useful to think of approximately it slightly.
