I am assuming you mean after the cats rather than removing the cats themselves. If you remove the cats you will most likely get a CEL because the O2 sensors read faulty when you take the cats out. If you do it after the cats, it will let hot exhaust on the bottom of the floorboards of your car which could damage your carpet and even has the possibility of causing a fire. Besides, you could get carbon monoxide leaking into the car which is very dangerous, as it can kill you. If you want to make it loud, run straight pipes (no mufflers) after the cats. Trust me that it WILL be VERY loud even with full length over the axle pipes if you run no mufflers. Had a buddy in high school do that on his F-150.

I do it for testing only and even though the sound is very righteous between the check engine lights, the police, the emissions cops when you get inspected, and the flames that can happen it ain't worth it...
Oh you mean cutting out the cats?
Same thing with the check engine lights (I've seen them come on even with the racing o2simulators that "fool the engine computer") and the emissions.. sounds a little deeper... but if you have any kind of warranty on the car (like an extended) it can become null and void by doing this.

You can do what ever you want with your exhaust system from the cats back to the exhaust pipes. The cats do supply enough back pressure so at idle the car is quiet but it will get really load when you get on it! There are allot of bolt on "cat back" systems to keep you in some sort of legal noise range.
Good Luck.....

If you unbolt the cats, you need to get o/2 sensor simulators and you should be fine.

it would be very loud. you could get a catback system for it. that would probly be your best bet. otherwise you might get a ticket if its to loud.
