Sometimes I duck in the rain. It's because the rain blows at an angle sometimes. If you duck then you can make sure it doesn't hit your face. Well that's why I duck, to make sure it doesn't get my face. Hope this helps..

Wow, this is a fantastic question. While I personally tend to walk slowly through rain (something that has earned me quite a bit of ridicule from my friends who like to stay dry), ducking can potentially offer protection. If you are hunched over, then rain will hit your back but not your front. I can imagine this being advantageous for girls wearing tight white outfits.

I think its a reflex where they are trying to avoid the rain from hitting them in the face, especially the eyes. That's where all your main senses are is in the head and its easier to keep your composure without blowing rain getting in your face

When you duck over it puts your head back at just such an angle that it keeps the rain from running down the back of your neck and down your back.

What a great question! I can understand why we look down...what so many others said about avoiding getting wet in the face. But the ducking...really silly, eh? That's very Seinfeld of you!

I put my head down so the rain keeps out of my eyes and off my glasses as much as possible because otherwise I wont be able to see.
