If the child is not wetting at any other time, bedwetting is often the only sign that a child is experiencing stress in his life. Perhaps his anxiety is coming from trying to shift between two households. Make sure he feels loved and secure, even more than you may think he needs, by you, but especially by his dad. Try to limit his stress, while giving him as much control over the situation as he can handle. Maybe let him pick out his clothes, or what he has for breakfast. He can also help clean up his wet things, and even put them into the washer. To preserve your sanity, and your matress, get a plastic lined matress pad for under his sheets, or pick up a smaller pad at a medical supply store. And give him a hug, because he doesn't want to be the source of stress in the family, it is most likely out of his control.

Your boyfriend is taking this thing personally. He needs to understand there are many children out there that need a little help at night. Especially kids who are forced to sleep places they are not feeling secure in. The boy needs some pull ups so you don't need to deal with the mess. He should never be punished for bed wetting because it is not something he does on purpose. My daughter wet til she was 18. I took her to many doctors and it all had to do with the REM of sleep she was in. Yelling at him and making nasty comments to him will only make it worse. Put a pull up on him and make sure he understands when he gets up in the morning he needs to take it off and then take a morning bath. If you don't make a big deal out of it, he will eventually realize he isn't getting any attention from it, and he will probably stop.

most 4 year olds wet the bed. they cannot help it and they are not looking for attention. their bladder is not big enough to hold all the urine their body makes at night. and even the ones who are potty trained cannot feel it coming. by making a big deal out of it you could make the problem worse. it is verry verry common for kids to wear pull ups to bed up to 6 and there are thousands who wear them until 10-12. he needs to have a pull up on.

Some children are really deep sleepers and don't feel the "urge" while they are sleeping. Try this: If he goes to bed at 8pm, try gently waking him up before you guys go to bed and take him to the bathroom.
