My cat is acting weird. He usually prefers to eat in the garage with all the door closed (we have two dogs that want his food). Lately though, he eats a few bites and wants to come right back in and then go right back out again. Finally I sat with him in the garage while he ate. The whole time he kept acting like he was hearing things and then he'd act skittish about eating for about 30 seconds or so.

He still loves being pet and he still curls up on my bed at night. He still is a great mouser and he still can hold his own when the dogs bug him (they don't try to eat him or anything...they just get overly playful.) I don't know if I should be concern or not! This is my first cat ever...I'm becoming a big fan though...so good for stress relief!

It's possible that something happened one day while he was eating--maybe something fell off a shelf, or something outside made a noise. Now he associates eating in the garage with that event. I suspect he'll get over it, but it may take a while. Don't force him to stay in the garage, that can turn his fear into a phobia. Good luck!

He must have gotten scared one time while eating his dinner in the garage. Something might have fallen in the garage or a strong wind rattled one of the doors and he relates eating in the garage with that noise that scared him. He is calm the rest of the time because he has not been scared while doing it. Maybe sitting with him for a few more days will calm him down and maybe it won't. Do you have someplace in the house that you could feed him, like on top of the washer or dryer or a spot in the basement (if you have one) that he can eat in peace without being harassed by the dogs? You might want to try that.

Sounds like one of the dogs may have gotten unintentionally too rough with him and hurt him. He's not going crazy he's just scared and needs to have the assurance you're there to protect him. It takes time for boundries to be established, sounds like its going alright so far. Just give him some extra attention and maybe try putting his food up some where like a shelf or somewhere high where he can go to eat and get up away from the dogs somewhere.

Your cat no longer feels that the garage is a safe or secure place for him to eat. Feed him in a place where he will feel more secure - the kitchen or one of the spare rooms away from the dogs.

Something either inside or near outside of your garage is disturbing the cat's normal habbits. They dont' like any changes in their normal routienes, so try to keep them the same as best as you can. Depending on how long you've had the cat, it may just still be adjusting to it's new enviroment.

no need to worry at all. this is normal.
or maybe u shud try changing the environment he eats in. If that doesnt work, then shift it back to the garage. This is normal of course.
jus tell me. Are you very rich?? Just wanted to know

no no your cat is being normal. my cat goes crazy like that sometims too. she will be eating then all of a sudden take of running, once she ran and couldnt stop on the floor so she hit into the wall. it was pretty funny, but our glass sliing door has wood in the middle seperating the glass window and door and she loves to run and jump on of it then slide down. sadly though she has ruined that wood! but like you said theya re a stress reliever!! i love cats! well atleast my cat!

I'd say you have an unwanted visitor in your garage. Move the food somewhere else, or call an exterminator.

My cat Lotty does that she is just a bit dopey (not saying your cat is dopey!) But she is very very aware of the things around her when she is by herself, but when she is with me she calms down a bit, its like she is expecting something to jump out at her! Bless, I dont think you need to worry! You cat isn't crazy! good luck!
