My son had one a couple of weeks ago and we did the over-the-counter wart remover that is like a bandaid. He said it hurt like heck, because essentially it turns into a blister. So, at night I told him not use the wart bandaid and air it out with Neosporin. It worked, it's gone. You gotta be sure you wash your feet everyday in the shower and wear dry socks/shoes.

Sounds like a plantar's wart. I got one of those from the dorm showers in college and had to make several (3, I think) trips to the podiatrist before it was gone. Because they're usually flat & on your foot (under pressure) they tend to grow deeper into the skin so more treatments are needed. Consider yourself warned, that last treatment is a killer!

Plantar warts are common and the only way to take care of them is exactly the way that you did. However it sounds as if you could have picked a better Podiatrist. Find another one that you check out his/her reputation first. Tell the doctor exactly what happened and ask him if he can fix it painlessly BEFORE you let him touch it.
