Chaos, according to the `Oxford English Dictionary' means:

1. A gaping void, yawning gulf, chasm, or abyss.

2. The `formless void' of primordial matter, the `great deep' or
'abyss' out of which the cosmos or order of the universe was
evolved.

There are a couple of additional definitions, but they are
irrelevant to this discussion. When chaos is used in magick, there
is no place for con- fusion or disorder.

Chaos is the creative principle behind all magick. When a magickal
ritual is performed, regardless of `tradition' or other variables in
the elements of performance, a magickal energy is created and put
into motion to cause something to happen.

If magick happens it immediately becomes science - perhaps a little-known science, but science nonetheless.

The opposite of chaos can be found in chaos.

I understand 1 and 2. After that you lost me. How can the chaos be used in magick? I thought magick was using the power of the universe. I don't see how that power is associated with chaos. ??? Where does it say this?

That is one way, but I think of magic not as creative but simply using energy from around me.
