Because of people like you.........we have so many animals that wind up euthanized every year. Yes a cat can turn "wild" or feral you dumbass.....I really do not understand how a responsible (at least in your mind), person, could think that something like this was humane. Obviously you and your wife did not really care about the cat. Let's see.......we think that the house is not for you or better yet, every time your best friend sees you, they knock the hell out of you. How many times is it going to take you before you realize that you shouldn't go around that person. Of course you will eat around that person if that is the only food you have. You don't want to starve.....but you will go out of your way to not be around that person. Same goes for the cat. I am sure that putting the cat outside has made it wonder why? Especially if it was not an outside cat. I can't believe that people like you get on a website like this and ask such a stupid question. Take a walk to any animal shelter and just look around and you answer your own question. Then..........go home...look in the mirror and congratulate yourself. It is because of people like you that animals are out of control the way that they are.

Cats are not attached very much to the people but to their place. You have turned him out and not fussing over him as before,so he does not need you. Also as a Tom cat gets older he is more interested in outside world ad females and stay away from house.

Absolutely.
Cats will turn feral very quickly.
Please do the responsible thing and take him to a shelter. Even if it means he's put to sleep, it's better than letting him live wild.

Yes cats turn feral, or wild as you put it.
AND THIS SICKENS ME !!
You take a cat , or any animal, in and you just toss it outside because you all of a sudden decide you dont want it any more?
What the hell...
Yes he sticks around the house, it is or was his home until you threw him out. Its the only place he knows. Sure you put out food for him, but now the other cats want that food, now hes got to fight for it. Yes he is shying away from you, hes fighting to stay alive, he wants to come in and stay warm. I wish he had thumbs so he could pick up a stick and beat you with it, and your wife, then throw you out in the cold and toss a bowl of food to you.
THERE ARE BETTER WAYS TO STOP CARING FOR A PET !!

I surely have a DSH lady it fairly is 2d technology feral cat and a youthful male that became rejected by potential of the feral colony around the line. The male is a trifle wild in his behaviour however the canine retains him in examine. The canine accompanied him and makes confident he behaves himself.

yes,its possible, but depending on the circumstances, cats who have been living ,most of there lives in a appartment/house are not able to survive.
but cats who are living in a farmhouse for example, and having hunting experience and
catching mice and birds, and eating them, are
more likely to survive in the wild.
and they do occasionally.

Your wife dumped your cat outside and you let her? Apparently you had no love for the animal. You should have found it another proper home.
