Many think its just 1 or 2 people that point at 2012. But there are almost 20 seperate items, cultures and organizations from the past that all pointed at that time, 2012. And these people never communicated between each other....so they must of known something.
Some think its the beginning of the 7 yrs of tribulation. Others think this is the time of armagedon. Some think it will be a high burst of protons from the center of the galaxy that will litterally burn the surface of the earth, just as Revelation speaks of (others think this burning will happen with nukes) Others believe that our 10th planet will come into sight and pass between the earth and mars in turn causing our poles to shift (why they have been moving more n more over the yrs...that planet is getting closer n closer). When they flip, all we know will vanish for it will be destroyed but for a lucky few. This could be interperted as the end of the world, the end of days, the return of Jesus and many other items.
But since we have yet to get there, and we can't tell the future, all we can do is prepare the best we can, and wait.
I myself think its a mix of many things. For 1, UFO's and the Bible would never have been in the same shelf....but today you can easily see many mentionings of UFOs in the bible, over and over again. And they are described exactly as the UFO's we see of today. Plus you can read about the days of Noah prior to the flood and realize Jesus said that when he returns, it will be like the times of Noah. Then realize we are living the days of Noah, almost to the tee.

The Aztec ended their calendars with the year 2012
Metaphysically speaking there is speculation during the year 2012 the veils between the spiritual world and this world will be lowered and we will have direct contain with the other side.
This is felt by some to be related to the Christian Worlds belief in the second coming of their Christ spirit.
But, an end to the planet was not mentioned in either of those scenarios.
peace and love----that is the answer

I think it's all wrong. Everybody, every generation, seems to WANT the "end of the world" to occur during their life span.
All the Mayans said anyway, is that 2012 is basically "one world ends and the next begins", which could be great! Maybe we'll stop be selfish and greedy, maybe things will become great!
In my own lifetime so far, there have been a NUMBER of people who were QUITE convinced that it was the end of the world, nothing happened. Y2K, the "UFO behind the Sun", etc., etc., etc.
The Earth WILL end when it crashes into the Sun eventually, or the Sun goes supernova. That will be MANY MANY MANY thousands or millions of years from now.

Didn't we just have a similar discussion in the 90s? The world is ALWAYS "coming to an end". "This" generation is ALWAYS "the worst". Every few years, from time immemorial, someone trots out some new doomsday prediction, selling books, tapes, tinfoil hats, whatever they can move, then quietly moves out of town six months before it "happens". And nothing ever does happen.
I've lived through "harmonic convergence" and "Y2K" with no effect. I worry about real problems like war and global warming but not mystic astrological gobbledygook.

Haven't heard of the book, and would never listen to anyone who sets dates, but in the bible Jesus says that we can know the season. And yes people have jumped the gun many times and even try to predict who the Antichrist is, So What. I base my beliefs on the events that lead to the 2nd coming of Jesus in Matt.24 and the world events that constantly focus on the Middle East. Read Revelation and Daniel. It is near, possibly in my lifetime, but no one knows the day or hr except God. We are to be ready and prepared.

The Mayan Calendar rolls over on December 23, 2012 (ccording to some calculations.
However, this is not in any way an end of the world or even an end of the age.
The Mayan calendar is divided up into segments ranging from 0 to 11 (which roll over to 0 when they hit 12). On that date, the Mayan calendar rolls from 0.11.11.11.11.11 (shorthand: 0.11[x5]) to 1.0.0.0.0.0 (shorthand: 1.0[x5]).
It's simply an epochal roll over, nothing dramatic.

The end of the world has been confidently predicted thousands of times--over thousands of years--yet all those dates have come & gone--no doubt humans will still be predicting it thousands of years from now also.Take Christ's advice & don't listen to any of it!!

I've not heard about the book. But people have been predicting the "end" for years and years. The Bible tells us that we will see signs and seasons for the end, but as for knowing the "exact time" that is unknown to all BUT God himself!
